Course Outline for Mathématiques 7 - Ecole KLO Middle School
M. Nadeau
Course Objectives :
Through balanced program of guided instruction, drill, problem solving, applications and hands-on learning, students will experience improvement in their numeracy skills and in their understanding of mathematics.
Course Content : (Not necessarily in this order)
Term Evaluation consists of the following:
Class work, homework, Quizzes, Tests/ Projects
*Participation and spoken French are also an important part of a good work ethic. See Expectations.
The Work habit grade G (Good), S (Satisfactory) or N (Needs Improvement) will be assigned based on student’s readiness, responsibility and respect. A complete list of criteria for G, S, or N has been sent home and is reviewed in class.
Supplies :
Expectations and Procedural Information :
b) Be responsible with obligations and duties.
c) Be ready to participate fully in learning.
On days when students do not have a test/quiz, students can expect the following format:

Supplies :
- KLO students are asked to have a binder with divider. One section of the binder will be allocated to Math for handouts.
- An exercise book (graph pages) is required. The first one of the year will be provided:) It will attach into the math section of the binder and be used for note-taking, examples and exercises.
- A calculator is not used on a regular basis in the grade 7 math classroom. Should a calculator be required, there are a few in the classroom.
- The school agenda (provided free of charge at the beginning of the year) needs to be attached inside of the student binder and taking out at the beginning of every class.
- Each student needs HB pencils and a good eraser – Students are not allowed to complete assignments in pen in math class. Students should also have a set of coloured pencils and/or pens for graphs and projects. A pen will also be used for marking their work.
- A metric ruler is needed for each class as it is used for underlining, graphing, geometry, measurement. A protractor will be lent for some classes when needed.
- A workbook (provided at the beginning of the year) must be brought to every class. Lost workbooks must be replaced at a cost of $5.00 each.
- A Math 7 textbook will be used when needed and kept in the classroom.
Expectations and Procedural Information :
- Three classroom rules. The three R’s. These will be presented and discussed with students in class. I expect students to :
b) Be responsible with obligations and duties.
c) Be ready to participate fully in learning.
- Homework is checked on a regular basis. Students who do not complete their homework for the required deadlines miss the corrections, the discussion, and the marks that go with that assignment.
- When students are absent, they need to find out what was missed prior to coming to the next class. They can check with one of their homework buddies or check the homework board in the classroom at the beginning of the day. Projects will be listed in JuniperGrades (Info sent home).
- “Practice, practice, practice” is how to improve in Math. Homework assignments should be written into the agenda before the end of every class.
- Extra help is available most mornings, at lunch and after school. Please ask ahead of time if possible.
- There will be retests only on special circumstances. Students are expected to be ready for tests, quizzes, and pop quizzes at any time. Students need to study regularly.
- French is the language of study in our classroom. Students are required to speak French at all times. Their effort in this area is part of their participation in class.
- Parents, please check your child’s binder and agenda regularly to monitor homework completion, organization, neatness and the required supplies for class. A note from the teacher might also be added if needed. If a note from a parent is added in the agenda, it’s the student’s responsibility to show it to the teacher a.s.a.p.
